Babes, there’s a revolution brewing. Do you remember an early 2000s movement that exploded across the internet in a flurry of leopard print, chuck taylors, and dramatic eyeliner looks?

Does the name Audrey Kitching ring a bell? How about Kiki Kannibal? Hanna Beth?

Don’t worry if they don’t, I’m about to give you a crash course in scene queen culture by introducing you to some trendsetters that always held a space in our myspace top 8. https://www.pinterest.ca/ticthezine/scene-queen-aesthetic/

Audrey Kitching,

The Rococo Angel

If you have ever considered dying your hair pink, then you know who we are talking about here. Audrey went from hair goals to spiritual guide since her myspace days. We knew her then as the princess of buzzfeed, an alternative model with vibrant bubblegum pink hair. She shared her life with us before the existence of daily vloggers, often posting text, picture, and video updates with fans. Over the years Audrey has continued her modelling work, she now has one of the most ethereal, beautiful portfolios and has refined her OTT Marie Antoinette inspired aesthetic to an exuberant, dreamy, more mature style that continues to suit her perfectly, as it did when she was wearing tutus and converse.

Audrey is Tic approved for all of your spiritual, and rococo style needs

Kiki Kannibal

The Riot Grrl

Quiet was the last word we would’ve used to describe Kiki Kannibal back on Myspace but lately, everything’s been silent in Kikis camp.

Controversy surrounded Kiki during her teenage years, the Rolling Stone article on her published in April 2011 details some of the more life altering events she has experienced.

Kiki took on the internet with a confidence and enthusiasm we had never really seen before, she was online everyday sharing updates and posting creative self portraits, often featuring her sister Dakota Rose.

The pair carefully crafted their online images before social media as a career option even existed, they were part of the group that really laid the foundation for that sort of work in the present.

To this day, the reaction of the online audience to the experiences of 14 year old Kiki Kannibal make me sick. I’ll spare you the gory details here babe but if you’re interested, have a look at that Rolling Stone article.

These days Kiki keeps to herself.

She has a Youtube channel, and on that channel you can find some vlogs and original music, nothing recently though.

Kiki is Tic approved for inspiring us to take more risks with our style and showing us that even a 14 year girl can be strong enough to crawl through hell and back

Hanna Beth

The Dark Horse

Hanna appeared on the scene as a friend of Audrey Kitching and sometimes seemed more like a supporting role rather than a leading lady. Her low key style; a mix of boho and scene queen hit us like a breath of fresh air amongst all of the bleach and hairspray we were obsessing over.

She showed us how to play with trends and make them work for our own personal taste.

Managed by a modelling agency Hanna managed to avoid major controversy and has been leading a successful modelling career.

She was frequently spotted with Demi Lovato during the singers struggle with substance abuse leading many to wildly speculate about what they got up to.

You can find Hanna online on Youtube, twitter or instagram, and if you still can’t get enough she was in an E! Show named House of DVF in 2014

Hanna is Tic approved for handling herself with grace and making her career goals a priority

Tic Pilot was written in January 2019 and never published until now. It’s not exactly relevant anymore but I enjoyed writing it xoxo Arienette
